Dolce & Gabbana Store Opening Cocktail Party 11.08

We were lucky enough to get the chance to attend the opening of the Dolce & Gabbana store in Chungdam this Tuesday evening. The event was especially exciting because the designers, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, were attending along with a handful of Korean celebrities. So camera in hand and an out of dress code multi-colored outfit on, I rushed to meet Paula.

The store was beautiful, even sans merchandise. 3 flloors of luxe interior that mixed polished metal, white marble, dark wood, and black crystal glass. There were, however, a number of gorgeous beaded creations on display that I was told were designed specifically for this event. I had, not surprisingly, an affinity for the beaded bodysuits and a particularly sassy metal corset/belt that I would promise to work into my daily wardrobe had I the opportunity to own it.

Catering the event, were an army of black clad Korean men carrying trays of champagne, assorted fruits, sugary tarts, and candied nuts, all in a Street fair/farmer’s market kind of theme. They were even preparing fresh flowers for guests as they left (Really solidified the “farmer’s market” theme to me). It was a very surprising theme to choose, and even more so to be pulled off in such a high fashion way. I read after the event that the SS2012 collection was inspired by Italian street carts. I took a few shots of hot namjas holding the aforementioned luxe creations because…well do I need a good reason to take photos of delicious Korean men holding delicious food? No objections, I’m sure.

Paula and I had only been at the event for 10 minutes or so and decided to make our way down from the second floor to the first to partake in some of the much talked about food. Before I could make it four steps into my descent I was brought face to face and crossing paths with Siwon of Super Junior. He nodded and I…have no idea what I did, but it was probably dumb. This actually happened another time later in the night, but both now remain a blur to me. I got a few shots of him meeting Dolce and Gabbana, whom arrived very shortly after him.

Other celebrities in attendance which caught my eye were U-know and Max, but unfortunately, they stayed very briefly so I did not get a better photo of them. Kim Sarang, whom I mainly know from the Kdrama Secret Garden and one of the only curvy Korean celebrities. She looked amazing in a Dolce and Gabbana dress. Perhaps the star earrings and shoes were a bit much, though. Lee Seung gi passed us on the stairs, I believe, but no time to get a photo.

We had a great time and met many wonderful people who didn’t care a bit that I matched the store’s Christmas lights more than the rest of the guests. Maybe next time (^_^) I will choose a more demure outfit…but then how will Siwon be able to see me from the crowd?! Paula even got to meet Stefano Gabbana!
